The Sudbury Wolves completed a trade today with the Kitchener Rangers which sees the Wolves acquire a 14th round conditional draft selection from the Rangers in exchange for overage defenceman RYAN HANES. The conditions attached to Kitchener’s 14th round pick would allow the pick to be moved up to an 8th round draft selection in 2013 should the conditions be met.
HANES, 20, was released ten days ago by the Wolves as a result of the team having too many overage players. The 6’, 200 lb, Ottawa native was acquired by the Wolves in 2010 from the Ottawa 67’s along with a 2nd and 7th round draft picks in exchange for former Wolves’ defenceman Jake Cardwell. Hanes’ numbers in the OHL include: 219 games played, 6 goals, 23 assists for 29 points and 189 penalty minutes. In 64 games played with the Wolves last season, Hanes recorded 2 goals, 8 assists for 10 points and 80 minutes in penalties along with a +7 rating. Hanes recently accompanied the Wolves to Russia and was a member of the gold medal World Champion Wolves’ team. The Sudbury Wolves organization would like to thank Ryan for his personal commitment and efforts as a member of the Sudbury Wolves and wish him continued success in Kitchener.
