Wolves Hit the Road

The Sudbury Wolves had a successful home opener weekend at the Sudbury Arena as they kicked off their season with back-to-back wins against the Oshawa Generals and the Brampton Battalion. The Wolves will now take their two game win streak on the road as they head down the I-75 on Thursday, September 27th to face Saginaw Spirit. Puck drop will take place at 7:11 P.M.  Don’t miss out on the action, as STEW KERNAN will have the call of the game on KFM 95.5

The Spirit will be looking to get into the win column for the first time this season as they posted a record of 0-1-1 on the weekend. Saginaw comes into the game boasting four NHL Draft picks on their current roster including VINCENT TROCHECK ( 2011 3rd Round, Florida), JUSTIN KEA 2012 ( 3rd Round, Buffalo), JAKE PATTERSON ( 3rd Round, Detroit),  and GARRET ROSS ( 5th Round, Chicago).  TROCHECK led the Spirit last season amassing an impressive 85 points in 65 games. He will be looking to improve on his current two game point streak in which he has put up two goals and one assist.

On Saturday, September 29th the Wolves will continue their American road swing when they face-off against the 7th ranked team in the CHL prior to the start of the season the Plymouth Whalers. The Whalers lineup is stacked from the goal out as they have 11 NHL Drafted player’s on the roster including three NHL 1st Round Draft Selections. They include TOM WILSON (16th Overall, Toronto) , STEFAN NOESEN (21st Overall, Ottawa Senators), and RICKARD RACKELL ( 30th Overall, Anaheim). Despite their star-studded squad the Whalers have experienced a rough start to the season as they record currently sits at 0-0-1-1.

After the game the Wolves will cross the border back to Canada for a Sunday afternoon contest against the Windsor Spitfires who posted a respectable 1-1 record on the weekend. The game will be the Wolves first look at highly touted forward JOSH HO-SANG who was drafted 5th overall in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.  Ho-sang is still looking for his first OHL goal as has posted one assist through his first two games. The Spitfires also boast some star talent in Calgary Flames second round pick PATRICK SIELOFF and KERBY RYCHEL who cracked Bob McKenzie’s list for the top ten 2013 NHL Draft Eligible Players.

Wolves forward NATHAN PANCEL and defenceman FRANK CORRADO will be looking to continue their torrid starts on the road as they both put four points up on the board during their brief two game home stand. Net minder JOEL VIENNEAU will also be going into the trip with the hot hand as he has posted an impressive goals against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of 0.951 through two starts.

The Wolves will be back in action at home on Friday, October 12th when they face-off against the Saginaw Spirit at 7:35 P.M. There are still greats seats available for both games.
