Wolves Announce Free Agents

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that 10 free agent players will be invited to the team’s MAIN TRY-OUT CAMP commencing September 1st at the Sudbury Arena.

Leading the way with OHL experience is 19 year old forward SCOTT MITCHELL.   MITCHELL, 5’11”, 185 lb right-winger has played 15 games for the Erie Otters in the OHL and played most of last season with the CAMBRIDGE WINTER HAWKS JR. A team.   MITCHELL is known for his aggressive style of play and is looking forward to the opportunity of cracking the Wolves’ line-up. For more information, click here.

GREAT NORTH MIDGET LEAGUE leading scorer JORDAN TURBIDE will also be attending the Wolves’ camp.  The 6’1”, 185 lbs right-winger really came into his own last season with the KIRKLAND LAKE MAJOR MIDGETS and scored 56 goals in 31 games.  The 18 year old sniper was voted as the league’s MVP, LEADING SCORER, TOP FORWARD and 1st ALL-STAR TEAM winner.

Returning for his second-look with the Sudbury Wolves is JAKE RYAN.  RYAN, 18, played for the Stratford Cullitons Jr. B team last year.   The New Liskeard native is 5’10”, 190 lbs and is an excellent skater and dependable two-way player.  RYAN scored 24 goals, 33 assists for 57 points in 48 games last year with Stratford and was selected to play in the GOJHL TOP PROSPECTS GAME.   RYAN also played on the same team as Brody Silk two years ago in New Liskeard.

The Wolves are also looking forward to seeing forward BRANDON GAUDETTE at this year’s main camp.

The 18 year old forward led his Stayner Jr. C team in scoring with 25 goals and 52 points in 39 games.  Gaudette is 6’, 190 lbs and is a former teammate of Wolves’ forward Josh Leivo with the Barrie Midgets.

 

FREE AGENT CAMP INVITEES

The Wolves are also pleased to announce that three players have been invited from the team’s FREE AGENT CAMP held in Sudbury last Saturday.   The players are: 19 year old forward BENI BERISHA, 19 year old forward DUSTIN JESSEAU and 17 year old forward STEVEN JAKIELA.   BERISHA and JESSEAU both played for the DIXIE BEEHIVES JR. A team last year.   BERISHA is a skilled centreman from the Mississauga area at stands 5’10” and weighs 170 lbs.

JESSEAU, 19, is from Aurora and centre or wing.   JESSEAU is 6’1”, 185 lbs and is very quick and is eager to impress Coach Cull with his solid two-way play.    JAKIELA, 17, is a big strong forward that also likes to play physical.   The Kitchener, Ontario native played very effectively against older players at the Wolves’ free agent camp and is a strong skater.   JAKIELA is 6’2”, 205 lbs and can play centre or wing.

The Wolves are also looking forward to inviting back three players that played for the team last year as affiliated players from the Junior Wolves (now Cubs).    The three players include BRANDON and AARON SCOTT as well as JASON LACROIX.

BRANDON SCOTT, 18, is a big, strong bruising defenceman that can also rush the puck.  SCOTT played in six OHL games with the Wolves last season.  SCOTT is 6’3”, 205 lbs.

AARON SCOTT, 19, plays an aggressive style and played in two OHL games for the Wolves last season.  SCOTT is 6’2”, 195 lbs.   Both SCOTT brothers hail from Mount Albert, Ontario.

JASON LACROIX, 18, is a big, strong left-winger from Hearst, Ontario.   LACROIX was discovered last season at the Wolves’ free agent camp.   LACROIX had a solid season with the Jr. Wolves last year scoring 17 goals and adding 8 assists for 25 points.  LACROIX played in four OHL games for the Wolves.   LACROIX is 6’1”, 205 lbs and is looking forward to his second try-out with the big club.

 

All 10 players are expected to challenge for positions on the Wolves hockey club this season.   The Wolves enjoy a solid number of returning players as well which should make for a very competitive camp starting September 1st.
