The Sudbury Wolves have traded the rights to 17-year-old goaltender RILEY CORBIN to the Plymouth Whalers today. Corbin, 17, was selected in the 5th round of the 2011 OHL Draft by the Wolves from the Thunder Bay midget team. In return, the Wolves acquired Plymouth’s 5th and 11th round selections in the 2013 OHL Entry Draft. Corbin, 5’10”, played for the Thunder Bay Major midgets this past season.
The Wolves have a number of goaltenders presently in their system including OHL-signed goaltenders: JOEL VIENNEAU (20), BRENDAN O’NEILL (18), TAYLOR DUPUIS (18) and a number of prospects including MICHAEL MUZYKA (16) who the Wolves selected in the 6th round of the 2012 OHL draft. MUZYKA was very solid in goal at the Wolves’ Rookie camp held in Sudbury in early May.
The Wolves also have ‘free agent’ goaltenders that have accepted invites to the Wolves’ main training camp in September including: C.J. SHARP and MITCH MATHIEU. Both goaltenders are 17 years of age and performed well at the Wolves’ Orientation camp held in Sudbury in early May.
