Tough Loss on Family Day

February 20, 2012

The Sudbury Wolves spent the afternoon of Family Day in Mississauga taking on the Majors for their final game of the long weekend.  The Pack got out to the early 1 - 0 lead but the Majors responded on the powerplay and went on to win the game by a final of 3 - 1.

MICHAEL SGARBOSSA (RYAN HANES, JOHAN MATTSSON) scored his 40th goal of the season to give the Pack a 1 - 0 lead at the 15:38 mark of the first period.

Near the midway point of the second frame, HANES was assessed four minutes in penalties and Majors forward Jamie Wise converted within each 2 minutes to give the Majors the 2 - 1 lead.

The Majors added another goal in the first minute of the third period to take the 3 - 1 lead, which was the final score.  The Wolves applied the pressure in the final frame but it wasn't enough.

JOHAN MATTSSON got his second start of the weekend and made 35 saves on the afternoon.  Brandon Maxwell earned the game's third star honours in making 29 saves for the win.

The Wolves will now take the rest of the week to prepare for their final swing through the Western Conference this weekend with stops in Saginaw, Plymouth and Windsor.  Tune into the live call on KFM 95.5 as Stew Kernan gives you the play by play action.
