The Sudbury Wolves travelled to Belleville on Saturday to take on the Bulls in an important conference matchup. After coming off an loss on Friday, the Pack rebounded nicely with a road win by a final score of 5 - 2.
The Wolves were the first to the scoreboard at 13:20 of the first period on a goal from ALEX RACINO (CHAD THIBODEAU, RYAN HANES) for his 5th goal of the season. At 19:12, ANDREY KUCHIN (JOSH LEIVO, JUSTIN SEFTON) gave the Wolves a 2 - 0 lead into the second period.
The second frame was a wild period of hockey as the teams traded goals with the Bulls scoring on a penalty shot at the 20:00 mark but the Wolves went into the second intermission leading 5 - 3. Scoring for the Wolves were KUCHIN (MICHAEL SGARBOSSA), LEIVO (KUCHIN, SGARBOSSA), and newcomer DEREK SCHOENMAKERS (RACINO) netted his first as a member of the Wolves.
The Pack were able to hold of the hard-charging Bulls in the third period to win the game by the final score of 5 -3.
Sudbury Wolves netminder JOHAN MATTSSON had a solid night in goal making 31 saves for the win. The Bulls tandem of John Chartrand and Charlie Graham combined to make 19 saves in the loss.
ANDREY KUCHIN and JOSH LEIVO were named the game's 1st and 2nd Star respectively.
The Wolves will close out the 3 in 3 weekend on Sunday night when they travel to Oshawa to take on the Generals. Game time is 6:00pm.
