The Sudbury Wolves closed out a busy 3 in 3 weekend on Sunday afternoon with a matchup agains the Brampton Battalion at the Powerade Centre in Brampton. The Pack opened the scoring for the early lead but eventually lost the game by a final score of 2 - 1.
Newcomer DEREK SCHOENMAKERS (SAMUEL SCHUTT) scored in the opening minutes of the first period to give the Wolves a 1 - 0 lead. The Battalion responded on the powerplay a couple of minutes to tie the game 1 - 1.
The Battalion scored what would be the eventual game winner at 5:42 of the second period with a shorthanded marker from Ian Watters. Despite pressing in the third, the Wolves were unable to get another one by Battalion netminder Matej Machovsky.
JOEL VIENNEAU had another solid outing in a busy weekend making 34 saves for the loss but earning the game's 3rd Star. Machovsky made 20 saves for the game's 2nd Star honours.
The Wolves will return to action with a double header weekend at home when they host the visiting Plymouth Whalers on Friday, January 27, 2012 and the Erie Otters on Saturday, January 28, 2012.
